As unfinished as the Beta is, I’d love if Blizzard just kept it going indefinitely.

The current OW2 beta is slated to end on May 17th, two and a half weeks from now. I think everyone can agree with me when I say this is probably the most fun I’ve had playing Overwatch for a long while now. The game feels so fresh and fun and It’s been ages since I spent five hours straight going from one match to the next. I know many could argue we should’ve gotten more after three years of development but I’d assume we’ll get to see more when PvE gets released.

I’ve always enjoyed overwatch because of it’s quick play matches. You could fit one at any moment of the day and you’d still get an enjoyable game of Overwatch. No other game currently can scratch the same itch Overwatch did when it comes to short, enjoyable, action packed matches and now that OW2 is out I’m glad to have a game I can play at any moment and enjoy.

My only issue is that whenever this beta ends, I don’t think any of us will really fun OW1 enjoyable, or at least as enjoyable as before. Matches on OW1 feel extremely different and after trying out the beta I somehow have less motivation to actually queue up in OW1 again, so I’d really love it if Blizzard maybe considered keeping the OW2 beta going. I don’t care if there isn’t competitive, I don’t care if there aren’t loot boxes, the beta feels like an improvement as it is and I’d rather them just update it whenever they were planning the next Beta and add in content on their own accord. I’ve missed the feeling of new content on this game, and I really don’t feel like getting blue balled for at least another year.

TLDR; keep beta going pls, ow1 feels more boring now

There will be more betas throughout the year with heroes and maps being added in each wave. There will be an open beta at the end of the year, and those are usually done when the game’s near completion.

  2. This would be the right move for gathering data and actually testing stuff long-term, but Blizzard is more using this beta as a marketing thing. If they have multiple beta launches they get to have multiple “hype moments” where the game skyrockets on Twitch etc.

  3. >I think everyone can agree with me when I say this is probably the most fun I’ve had playing Overwatch for a long while now.

I definitely do not agree with you at all, but I sincerely am glad you are having fun. However, the first day of the beta although definitely fun at times, has just made me more concerned about the fundamental changes they have made to the game.

  4. The OW1 beta testing was live for a few months, down for a few months and then came back until a few weeks before launch.

Since OW2 is being built on top of OW1, there hopefully wont be such a long beta testing phase, which would hopefully mean several betas with a few weeks in between or a release sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed!

  5. For us non dps supports this shit sucks big time rn lmao so I’ll enjoy overwatch one while it lasts ig

  6. I find it unfortunate that the beta straddles two seasons.

I also think OW1 is incredibly stale. A live beta would allow us to uncover more bugs and interactions as balancing/patches continue…

The reality is that OW1 is not fun in the live build. Im perfectly fine with ongoing balancing, bugs, and changes. It beats playing the game in the state its been for the last 18 months it beats playing against double shield and on volskaya/hanamura/anubis 30% of the time.
